Dakota County highlights recycling numbers; county manager announces Spanish IVR option and website launch

County leaders reviewed recycling metrics and outreach: more than 68,000 vehicles used the Eagan recycling zone in the last year, over 4,000,000 pounds of materials were dropped off at a recycling location, residents picked up 394,753 pounds at the reuse zone, and reuse activity saved the county nearly $250,000 in disposal fees. The board also noted breaking ground on a new Lakeville recycling zone in partnership with Scott County to expand the program.
County Manager Heidi described service improvements: "They added Spanish to that line as an option for people to select in the last month or so ... in just the 1st few weeks, it allowed 400 people to call in and receive that service immediately and saved our staff the time that it took to answer those 400 calls," she said. Heidi also said the county will unveil a new accessible website on the evening of July 9 after almost two years of work to improve user friendliness and accessibility.
