Council hears economic development and care‑services contracts: temporary coordinator, business training and Alzheimer's contract

Staff asked to extend the temporary business development coordinator contract (authorized through Dec. 31, 2026) to support program delivery and local business outreach.
Parks and human services director Erica Larkin presented a contract with the Area Wide Council on Aging to provide in‑facility and in‑home respite care, case management and specialized medical equipment for the Alzheimer Care Center. The contract term is July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, in an amount not to exceed $392,689. Larkin said in‑home respite currently serves 11 clients and in‑facility respite serves 21; staff noted an in‑home reimbursement rate increase from $15 to $20 per visit.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about schedules and staffing; conversation was procedural and staff will return with final contract documents as required for consent‑agenda action.
