Planning commission recommends council redesignate small Cordova lot for lease or sale

A committee member moved that the City Council be asked to redesignate and make available a requested portion of Lot 11, Block 7 — described in the staff text as approximately 101 square feet — so the party that submitted a letter of interest may pursue a lease or purchase agreement under the Cordova Municipal Code. The motion requested that staff negotiate the terms of lease or sale and incorporate standard findings and conditions in the staff report. "I move to recommend that the city council does redesignate the requested portion of Lot 11, Block 7… and dispose of the requested portion… as outlined in Cordova Municipal Code," the committee member said during the motion.

Commissioners and staff said they had met with Public Works, the streets division supervisor and refuse staff and that those offices and AML reviewed the proposal and concluded the additional infrastructure for a brewery would not impact the alley used for grocery deliveries. One commissioner said they had walked the site and called the proposal "well thought out," and another noted the change would be a lease rather than a subdivision, which the commission said would speed the timeline. No audience objections were recorded on the audio. The commission voted in favor; no opposing votes were recorded in the meeting audio and the motion was advanced for City Council consideration.
