Broward MPO offers 90%‑funded transportation master plan for Lauderdale Lakes; kickoff targeted for Nov. 2026

The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization offered Lauderdale Lakes a technical‑assistance Transportation Master Plan that the MPO will largely fund.
Karen Friedman, senior planner with the Broward MPO, told the commission the program typically covers two cities over about 18 months and that the MPO would provide 90% of the funding while the city would provide a 10% match. "We work one‑on‑one with city staff to help identify community‑driven multimodal transportation projects for up to six roadways," Friedman said, noting deliverables such as five‑year crash summaries, field observations, a recommendations map and planning‑level cost estimates.
Friedman suggested a November 2026 kickoff and a February 2028 completion, with three milestone presentations to the city commission and potential community meetings and coordination with agencies including FDOT, Broward County and Broward County Public Schools. Commissioners welcomed the offer and asked staff to return with an executed scope of work and cost breakdown for approval.
