Resident urges commissioners to keep citizen comments focused on county business

Jimmy McCombs, a resident of Aransas Pass, used the citizens-comment period to ask the court to limit remarks to county business and to stop what he described as personal attacks and campaign-style posts in the comments section.
"The purpose of citizens comments at commissioner's court is to allow the citizens to voice their opinion and views and give on county business," McCombs said, adding that comments should not be used for "discussing Facebook posting groups, putting people's personal business out across the entire county to be used for a campaign platform, or to air personal grievances against private citizens." He told the court he was requesting that taxpayer time and money not be used on that conduct.
The acting judge thanked McCombs and the court proceeded with its agenda; no formal action was taken in response to the comment.
