Emergency Services District commissioners sworn in at Jefferson County meeting

Two newly seated commissioners for Jefferson County Emergency Services Districts 1 and 3 were sworn in at the Commissioners Court meeting on Jan. 6, 2026.
The County Judge administered the oath, asking each commissioner to raise their right hand and affirm that they would “faithfully execute the duties of the office of Jefferson County Emergency Services District Commissioner” and uphold the constitutions of Texas and the United States. "I do," the new commissioners responded when asked to swear, and the judge said he would "receive and file these into the commissioner's court records next week."
The judge thanked the new commissioners for their willingness to serve and for their work in unincorporated areas, saying, "We congratulate you. We thank you for your willingness to serve, and, we appreciate the work y'all are doing out there in the unincorporated area." The court took no further formal action on the oaths at that meeting; the paperwork will be entered into the court record as noted by the judge.
