County to host public GIS portal in the cloud; three-year fee locked

County staff asked the court to approve a contract with New Edge to host the county’s GIS portal in the cloud and restore public access to mapping layers that show floodplain, school zones and other parcel details.
"Our GIS portal is a tool used by our county employees as well as the public," the presenter said, describing the portal’s public functions and saying staff had negotiated a locked fee for three years so the price cannot increase during that period. The presenter said the system would be available to the public in about five days once the contract is signed and that the budget for the work has already been established.
Commissioner Lane moved to approve entering the contract; Commissioner Crowe seconded and the court voted to approve. Staff will finalize the contract and return to the court as needed for implementation details.
