During general updates staff recapped recent Metro outreach efforts and the city’s encouragement to regional partners to visit and better understand local needs. The mayor and staff discussed Cook Plaza — a county-purchased site proposed for a day-use wraparound services center providing showers, laundry and case management — and said neighbors may push back given limited outreach so far. “The county bought it over 2 years ago, and so it wasn't like it was a new thing or rush to get something done,” a staff member said, while also urging the county to improve neighbor communication and clarify service plans and security measures.
Council members also reviewed upcoming community events and staff programming, and agreed to help Upriver Village and other local nonprofits with promotional support and tabling at Pumpkin Fest. The council adjourned after final remarks and procedural items.
