Staff reported a county-partnered resiliency project that installed ductless mini-split units and portable cooling equipment in dozens of Wood Village Green homes, describing the work as both a direct benefit to residents and a case study for broader funding.
"We were able to serve 36 homes inside Wood Village Green with mini split units," a staff member said, adding that 31 of those were single-head units and that an additional 28 homes received portable cooling units. Staff said the total local investment for the project was $334,018 and credited county leaders and community partners for helping deliver installations to income‑qualified households.
Council and staff said they expect to host follow-up meetings with recipients to document outcomes and learn lessons for future resilience projects. Staff also said the case-study work could help secure more funding for climate resiliency and energy-efficiency projects targeting low-income and BIPOC households in East County.
