Ellis County accepts $275,000 HAVA election-security subgrant with $55,000 county match

Elections Administrator Jana Onion said the grant was initially approved for a smaller amount last year but counties could request additional funds; she told the court, "the 275,000 with a matching of 55,000, and they approved it." Onion said the money will be used for election security and e-poll books and confirmed that the county already has the required matching funds in its budget.
Commissioner Kyle Butler moved to accept the grant and the motion passed with no opposition. The resolution directs county staff to administer the subgrant per HAVA requirements and to track the required matching funds in the election office budget.
