Officials said the draft rules are nearly finished and that the principal remaining issue is setting dollar amounts for review and filing. Committee member (S2) was asked to help collect peer-county platting fees; commissioners cited the current development-permit fee of about $60 as low compared with neighboring jurisdictions. One commissioner said the county will require applicants — particularly for commercial projects — to include drainage and floodplain studies and noted the county lacks in-house engineering capacity, so it will rely on outside engineers for technical reviews.
The Chair noted Pam had offered to help with filing logistics: "Pam said she will do it." Commissioners agreed to finalize small edits before a public hearing and planned to return with recommended fee amounts. The county directed staff to gather comparable fees from surrounding counties and to draft the notice and materials for the hearing.
