The court approved purchase and installation of two insulated exterior overhead doors for the Marathon fire station, completing a multi-stage renovation of the exterior bays.
County Judge explained the doors must be mounted outside because of the building's roof slope and that the county rebid the work and saved roughly $5,000. The judge said the doors are important if the county houses an ambulance in Marathon and that funding will come from LATCS. A motion to accept the proposal was moved, seconded and approved by the commissioners.
Work will proceed with the lower-cost bidder and county staff said the doors will include a shield to protect against snow and ice.
