Sheriff presented the department's annual enforcement summary to the Brewster County Commissioners on Jan. 27, including detailed stop and search figures.
The sheriff reported the department made "a total of over 5,000 stops," of which roughly 1,946 were moving violations, and described racial and gender breakdowns for stops and searches. He said there were 123 consent searches, 49 of which resulted in contraband seizures and 44 arrests referred to court. The sheriff noted most other enforcement contact produced warnings rather than citations.
Commissioners asked whether warnings are counted in the totals and the sheriff confirmed that every warning is recorded. The report was received for the record; no formal action was taken.
