City staff presented a second reading of an ordinance to amend property-maintenance penalties in city code (Title 5, chapter 10 and Title 8, chapter 1, nuisance provisions). Staff said the amendments reflect recommendations from work sessions and would change the fine schedule for repeat offenses; the ordinance proceeded as a second reading on July 20.
Council moved and seconded the reading; councilpersons Reiner, Martinez and Piercy each recorded Aye on the roll call and the reading passed. Staff said the changes follow discussion in prior public work sessions and aim to update older fine amounts to deter repeat property-maintenance violations.
