Council approves conveyance of 5-foot strip of East 2nd Street to Saint Mary’s School for ADA improvements

City staff opened a public hearing on a proposal to convey a 5-foot strip of the north side of East 2nd Street directly adjacent to Saint Mary’s School to allow interior remodeling, a new entrance step configuration and an ADA ramp. Staff said the conveyance follows a previously approved vacation of that portion of right-of-way and would permit the school to reconfigure its south entrance and improve accessibility.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Councilperson Reiner moved to approve Resolution No. 09-R-2026-2027 approving the conveyance; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with recorded Ayes from Councilpersons Piercey, Martinez and Reiner. The resolution authorizes the conveyance to Saint Mary’s School to facilitate ADA accessibility improvements to the building entrance.
