County staff recommended awarding Bid 29 (CPST‑3 resurfacing projects for Districts 8 and 9) to Chipley Company of Florence, South Carolina, at $2,466,138.38. Staff said the bid process received three compliant bids and Chipley Company was the lowest responsible responsive bidder. Council moved and approved the award.
Staff also recommended awarding a separate bid for Florence Interstate monument signs to Bridal Light Signs of Concord, North Carolina, at $775,715 to be funded equally from funds 11, 123 and 124. The project includes three large interstate monuments (I‑95 northbound and southbound and I‑20 westbound entry). Staff noted lighting specifications were not included in the bid and that lighting will be added via change order after contract execution.
