Auditor issues clean opinion on FY2025; council accepts annual comprehensive financial report

Grant Davis, partner at Mauldin & Jenkins, presented the annual comprehensive financial report and related auditor communications, telling council the firm issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the county’s financial statements and a clean single‑audit on major federal programs.
"We've issued an on my terminology is unmodified. It's a clean opinion on the financial statements," Davis told council, and he noted no material noncompliance or internal control deficiencies were identified. He also highlighted an improvement in the general fund balance (an increase of about $2.6 million for the fiscal year reported) and said the county had about five months of fund balance on hand at 06/30/2025. After presentation, council moved to accept the audit and the motion carried by voice vote.
Council members asked questions about audit timing and ERP implementation; staff explained timing issues were related to the ERP rollout and said HR/payroll modules and the property tax module were scheduled to come online in subsequent months and the next year, respectively.
