Florence County Council used part of its appearances segment to recognize employees with 20 to 35 years of service across multiple departments and later approved a one-time longevity incentive for long-serving employees.
Council recognized named employees with long service and commended county staff. Later in the meeting, the council approved a compensation-and-classification related one-time employee longevity incentive to recognize 256 employees with 10 years or more of service; staff estimated the payout at $638,236 including FICA and said the payment would be effective for an April 2026 payout. A staff speaker described the incentive as a recognition tied to recent classification and compensation changes intended to address pay equity between employees with differing tenure in the same positions.
The motion to approve the incentive passed on a voice vote; staff will administer one-time payments consistent with the classification plan.
