Florence County Council voted to award multiple procurement actions, including a $1,448,663.44 contract to CR Jackson (Darlington) for CPST-3 dirt-to-pave projects in Districts 4–6 and the selection of Fitness Forum to provide annual firefighter physical examinations under a three-year contract.
Staff reported the dirt-to-pave bid (advertised Feb. 23) received three bids, two compliant, and recommended CR Jackson as the lowest responsive bidder. The bid award was approved and will be funded from CPST-3 accounts. For firefighter physicals, RFP 192526 produced two proposals; the evaluation committee recommended Fitness Forum, a local vendor, with per-exam pricing presented to council and authorization for the administrator to execute a contract pending final negotiations and attorney review.
Council approved both measures on voice votes. The public-works director and program administrator were cited as recommending the dirt-to-pave award; the selection committee for physical exams included local fire chiefs and department representatives.
