Sammy Davis and Eric Hoyt of New Life Christian Fellowship told Florence County Council they want to build an outdoor basketball court on church property to serve Brookgreen and nearby residents.
"We are here on behalf of New Life Christian Fellowship Church," Sammy Davis said, describing a lack of recreational options for teenagers and young adults. Davis and Hoyt said Brookgreen Park mostly serves young children and that a new court adjacent to the church would be open to everyone and provide positive activities for local youth.
Council thanked the presenters for the proposal and asked staff to note the request for future consideration. The presenters urged council support and emphasized the court would create opportunities for mentorship and community engagement.
