EMS director secures routine maintenance contract and agrees to teach paramedic course with BCTC

Mike Rogers, Boyle County EMS director, presented two items the court approved on Feb. 10: a routine maintenance agreement with ZOLL for frontline cardiac monitors and a memorandum of agreement with Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) for a hybrid paramedic instruction program taught locally.
Rogers described the ZOLL maintenance agreement as a recurring, budgeted item that keeps cardiac monitors certified for use. On the education item, Rogers said the county will serve as an off-site training partner for BCTC and that the county expects to receive reimbursement for instructional credit hours (Rogers said the revenue is expected to be around $27,000 as the program ramps up). The court approved renewal of the maintenance agreement and the MOA with BCTC by voice vote.
Rogers also used the EMS presentation to request that the court adjourn the meeting in appreciation of EMS staff and first responders; magistrates agreed to adjourn in honor of emergency medical services, fire and public-works crews.
