The board approved several capital projects during the meeting. Facilities presenter Miss McCarville told the board the lowest quote to replace the Blackcomb basketball court came in at $35,600 and asked the board to approve a qualified purchase authorization up to $40,000 to allow for contingencies and timely completion before school opens; the motion passed.
The board also approved a cooperative purchase to resurface both playgrounds at Clater School for $198,047.57, funded with capital funds. For Fairchild Wheeler School, presenters requested a qualified single-source purchase for HVAC coil replacements citing the same contractor used in prior years; the amount presented was $94,500 and the board approved.
Board members asked standard procurement questions — verification of quotes, contingency protocol and procurement-office signoffs — and presenters confirmed these steps and said the city attorney will finalize contracts after board approval.
