The board approved a technology bid to modernize network access points and switches across the district, placing the work on a multi-year replacement schedule. The technology director explained this phase focuses on the oldest equipment to return the district to a five-year replacement cycle.
"This is, access points and switches that we need to replace in the district. We are on a 3 year 5 year replacement, schedule for these," the meeting chair (on behalf of the technology staff) said while describing the project. Trustees were told about E-Rate covering approximately 70% of costs and that remaining amounts are already budgeted.
A motion to approve the bid submitted by Aetnetics Inc. passed on voice vote. Staff said this will be phase one of a broader update and will be coordinated with E-Rate reimbursements.
