"It's been approved by the state already. I did all the paperwork for that, and they stamped it immediately," Kirby told trustees, noting the move is for this school year only. Trustees approved the measure after hearing that junior high numbers would remain about 12–13 even with the changes.
Separately, the board accepted the resignation of the junior high boys' basketball coach (motion by a trustee) and approved hiring Jacob Wallace to coach the junior high program, citing his extensive volunteer work renovating fields and prior youth coaching experience.
The decisions were presented as short‑term measures to preserve seasons and participation; trustees said they would review numbers next year if enrollment or interest changes.
