Jefferson County commissioners approved several purchasing items on Jan. 13, including a term contract for snack and vending services awarded to Chapman Vending with pricing referenced in an attachment to the record. The purchasing agenda also included a request for proposals for cafeteria services, a second-year renewal for inmate clothing and supplies with listed vendors and tariff-driven price increases, and a professional services agreement with LaBeach Architectural Group not to exceed $30,000 for courthouse roofing work.
During discussion, one commissioner questioned whether engineering services connected to a hailstorm claim should be covered as part of the claim and asked that the county’s claims coordinator (Kathleen) review engineering charges. The presiding official and another commissioner also asked whether Chapman’s vending contract included an exclusivity clause; procurement staff responded that Chapman’s proposal "does have an option" that the county can add during the contract if no other proposals arrive. The court approved the purchasing items by voice vote.
