At the May 13 Karnes County Commissioners Court, the tax assessor-collector, county auditor and treasurer presented monthly financial reports and the court approved a tax-collection software contract.
Tax Assessor-Collector Tammy Broadway reported April collections (month and year-to-date totals and delinquent amounts) and summarized a recent tax sale where 7 of 9 offered properties were sold. She told the court the current year-to-date collection percentage was approximately 97.93% for some funds and provided delinquent totals for others.
County Auditor (Tom) told the court county sales tax receipts were down about 8% year-over-year and provided revenue and expense percentages used to plan next year's budget. The treasurer reported an April 30 balance of $106,863,214.86 after receipts of $26,491,739.26 and disbursements of $27,931,616.61 for the month.
Separately, the court approved a professional services contract with Pritchard & Abbott (P&A) for county tax collection and statement services; the annual fee for FY25–26 was recorded as $55,935 with FY26–27 at $58,935. Commissioners discussed the operational benefits of the vendor and said they would consider broader comparisons in future procurement cycles.
