Resident Meliad appointed unanimously to Wood Village budget committee

The Wood Village City Council unanimously appointed Meliad to the city’s budget committee after a brief interview on Jan. 28.
During questions, Meliad said volunteering is a central part of her life and explained why she wants to serve: “I just wanted to be engaged in my community, know my community,” she said. She told council she and her husband moved to Wood Village about two years ago and that they are raising two sons in the city.
Councilors praised her commitment. One councilor said they were “really pleased to have a volunteer to serve the city” and welcomed her to the committee. City staff said orientation will be scheduled before the first budget committee hearing and that appointees will receive briefing materials and a formal orientation.
