Students honored with Superintendent Academic Awards at Winston‑Dillard meeting

At its recent meeting, the Winston‑Dillard School District Board recognized several students with Superintendent Academic Awards. A staff member introduced Tyler Saunders of Dillard Alternative and praised his ‘‘positive and respectful attitude, excellent attendance, and the personal growth he has shown throughout this school year,’’ noting he ‘‘consistently demonstrates kindness and cooperation in the classroom.’’
Board members also recognized Arabella Paige from McGovern Elementary and Fiona Xie from Winston Middle School. Administrators described Paige as a ‘‘very hardworking’’ second grader and Xie as a sixth grader who ‘‘exemplifies what it means to be a responsible, caring member of our school community’’ and ‘‘maintains strong grades’’ while showing empathy for peers. The board offered congratulations and encouragement to the students and their families.
