Clark Fork students showcase new construction trades CTE program

Clark Fork High School students presented the school’s new construction trades career-technical education program to the Lake Pend Oreille School District board, describing hands-on projects and shop safety changes.
"My 1st year at Clark Fork, starting the CTE program out there," said Andre Jo Hansen, the newly introduced CTE instructor, summarizing early steps to set up the shop. Student speaker Nico Cuicchi described class projects: "We've framed a dog house. The finished structure is right behind me over there, and we're very proud of it," and explained how the class organized tool storage and created a safe miter-saw area for student work.
Students highlighted practical projects that have doubled as community fundraisers and classroom resources: benches and desks sold at a bingo-night auction, birdhouses, classroom flags built by younger grades, and a large student-built chicken coop. The board and superintendent praised the program’s rapid setup and the instructor’s early impact. "We have a storage container that we're we put some of the metals in," a board member noted, and the presentation said the district hopes to revive a metal program in time.
The presentation emphasized safety, student skill development and community engagement as program priorities. Board members and the superintendent thanked the students and staff, and invited the students for a quick photo with trustees after the presentation.
