Library expansion: contractor paid $551,000; completion may be ahead of schedule

Neil gave the capital update, reporting that "we have paid the contractor 551,000 for the in the last fiscal year," which closely tracked the planned amount. He said architects and engineering costs were a bit higher than expected but still near the $600,000 budgeted for the prior year. Neil outlined interior allowances of $100,000 for interior fit-out and $20,000 for interior wall work and said the contractor is targeting completion about a month ahead of the Oct. 27 contract date.
Neil flagged a $2,400 tariff fee the electrical subcontractor expects to pay and noted the service upgrade to 400 amps (from 200 amps) is adding roughly $5,000 in cost; he said the general contractor indicated he could absorb some of those costs but would review final numbers. Commissioners raised a quality question about siding orientation; they chose not to require large-scale rework, instead planning to address the appearance with paint and to communicate expectations for interior follow-through to the contractor. An interior-planning meeting with Tracy, Neil and others is scheduled the following week.
