"We're actually gonna be at the Fairgrounds between 07:30 and 11 where citizens can drop their water off," Witherspoon said, describing a drop-off on June 24 and a fair with three expert sessions on June 25. She said a local, low-cost test option will cost $15 and that citizens who want faster, lab-certified testing may pay about $85 to send samples to Texas A&M.
Witherspoon said she had met the county judge and three commissioners and that the Farm Bureau will host the event and help maintain a baseline database of private-well samples. Organizers plan classroom-style expert presentations on hurricane preparedness and water utilities alongside the testing and fair exhibits.
The announcement provides a local option for private-well owners to get information and baseline readings; organizers said they will also produce an instructional video explaining sample collection. The court did not take formal action on the item during the meeting.
