Brindy Pierce, representing the Ideloo Cotton Fest, described plans for the Sept. 12 community event and asked the court for support. "We're excited to host September 12, another family fun day in Ideloo," Pierce said, noting a parade, barbecue cook-off, vendor fair and live music. Commissioner Shaw moved to approve $2,500 from unclaimed funds; the court approved the grant.
Tiffany Lilly Essex, Executive Director and Founder of Bridal and Devon's Angels, described the organization's volunteer-led outreach, mobile food and clothing services, and mentorship programs for families. "We provide mentorships, connect individuals with guidance, help them with challenges and futures," Essex said. The court approved $2,500 to Devon's Angels from the same fund after a motion and second.
Both grants were approved during the meeting as routine community-funding items and will be paid from the property-code funds identified in the agenda.
