Lubbock County and city create joint child-abuse task force to boost investigations

Assistant Chief Jordan Roberts told the commissioners the proposed mutual-aid agreement will create a child-abuse/juvenile-crime unit modeled after the county’s successful TAG (gang) unit, allowing the county and city to pool investigators, technology and manpower to investigate offenses involving juveniles as victims or offenders. Under the agreement, Lubbock County will provide office space, desk and IT support while the city will assign up to six investigators to the unit.
Roberts said the unit will handle crimes where juveniles are either offenders or victims and streamline information sharing and prosecutorial coordination. Judge Parrish moved to authorize the county judge to sign the mutual-aid agreement and the court approved the motion.
