County reports May venue and short-term rental tax collections up 28% from April

Jasmine Sanchez of the Lubbock County Tax Office reported May collections for venue and short-term rentals totaled $364,891.40, with hotel receipts of $277,259.02 and car-related receipts of $87,632.38. She said monthly totals were up 28% compared with April and year-to-date collections increased about 14% compared with the prior fiscal year.
Sanchez provided the venue account balance and disbursement summary: total deposited into the venue bank account through May 31 was $24,872,924.24, disbursements totaled $7,910,640.62 and the balance stood at $16,962,283.62. The report drew no questions and was accepted by the court.
