County provides $1,000 to local Square and Round Dance Federation for arts and tourism

Charles Spohn, president of the Lubbock Area Square and Round Dance Federation, described club activities, youth involvement and community outreach and asked the court for funding to promote arts and tourism. Commissioner Kerry Shaw moved to allocate $1,000 from unclaimed funds; the motion passed with no opposition.
Spohn said the federation supports programming for teenagers, provides CPR training and brings dancers from across the state and nation for events. The court approved the small-dollar award as an economic and cultural promotion expense under the county’s discretionary funding program.
