The proclamation states that Woodburn’s Hispanic, Latino, and indigenous communities now constitute "62% of our population," and encourages participation in local observances. Lonergan announced a plaza event with the Mexican consulate and music and dance scheduled for Friday at 5–8 p.m.
Councilors and staff noted the city is the state’s largest Latinx community and encouraged attendance at the plaza event; the mayor corrected the event time to Friday 5–8 p.m.
