Commissioners approve consolidating Nov. 4 polling locations amid staffing shortages

Karnes County will consolidate polling on election day Nov. 4 to five locations after the elections administrator said the county lacks enough workers to staff all historical precinct polling places.
Elections administrator Beth Lampalpo presented a list of proposed polling locations (Kennedy City Hall Daugherty Room; Holy Trinity Catholic Church CCD Building; County Offices on the Square Multipurpose Room; Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church CCD Building; Runge Public Library). Lampalpo said early voting will be at a single site Oct. 20–31 and that the county will post sample ballots and constitutional amendment descriptions online once the consolidation is finalized. The court moved, seconded and voted to approve the consolidation.
Lampalpo urged community help in recruiting election workers and described outreach plans including party events, church notices and possible advertising. The court asked staff to post hours and sample ballots prominently on county web pages and transit stops.
