Mayor Frank J. Lonergan introduced the two appointments during the council’s Sept. 8 meeting and recommended the panel approve them.
Councilor (mover) moved to appoint Marcia Merrifield to the parks and recreation board citing her involvement with Woodburn soccer; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. "Welcome aboard, Marcia," Lonergan said when the motion passed.
Later in the meeting Lonergan introduced Isis Rolos, a Woodburn High School junior who volunteered for a library board seat. A councilor moved and the council approved her appointment. A councilor praised the decision: "I'm so pleased to have a junior in high school signing up for a volunteer position," the councilor said.
The appointments were approved without recorded opposition and the mayor thanked both new board members for their willingness to serve.
