Barnes County commissioners on Tuesday approved initial contract and signatory documents for a $100,000 planning grant under the GLO Community Development Block Grant—Mitigation (LHMPP) program intended to update the county’s hazard mitigation plan.
“So this is a $100,000. There is no local match, and it is going to meet the FEMA requirements to get you back in compliance,” the presenter (Miss Cathy) told the court during the grant briefing, adding that the grant is reimbursable and that invoices must be paid before the county receives reimbursement. She said the grant termination date is 07/31/2028. The court moved and voted to approve the startup paperwork and authorized designated signatories for contract and financial documents.
Court discussion noted the county will work with the grant planning team (including named contacts to be assigned) and that the work will include regional planning to identify disasters and mitigation steps over the next five years. The presenter said the county will coordinate with the firm’s planning team and that an assigned planner will reach out to begin the design and compliance work.
The approval covers only the grant startup documentation and authority to sign necessary financial and contractual forms; further contract work and reimbursement details will follow during the grant administration process.
