Police report: unpermitted marijuana grow addressed; crashes and noise complaints continue

The Wood Village police chief told the council Oct. 8 that staff had worked with building officials and the utility provider to address an unpermitted marijuana grow/brew operation in the 23000 block of Northeast Gleeson that generated neighborhood complaints; the property's electrical meter was pulled to stop the illegal wiring.
"It was an un an unpermitted marijuana brew house that that was generating a lot of complaints in the area, mostly odor related," the chief said. The chief said the problem has been comprehensively addressed. He also reported duplicate coding in the assault figures in the packet and said a more accurate count was about three to four incidents, that no stolen vehicles were reported during the month, and that the city saw about six crashes centered near the 238 Halsey area over the last month.
Councilors pressed the chief on persistent truck brake noise overnight; staff said sheriff's deputies who are motor-carrier certified and truck inspectors can be deployed for targeted operations and vehicle inspections. The chief said staff will coordinate with the sheriff's office and look for a window to run a focused enforcement mission.
