Public commenter urges action after children’s books about homosexuality found on children’s floor at Rosenberg Library

A public commenter, David Macaluso, told Galveston County Commissioner’s Court on July 20 that he was upset to find books about homosexuality displayed on the children’s floor of the Rosenberg Library and asked the court to do something about it. "It's displayed for one thing, indoctrination," the public commenter said, adding, "leave our kids alone, at least until they're of an age where they actually know what [it] even is."

The presiding official responded during the meeting that the county does not operate the library system, noting the Rosenberg Library is run by the city. "Understand the county has nothing to do with the library," the chair said. The comment and county response occurred during the meeting’s public-comment period; no formal county action was taken on the library display at the session.
