VTX1 Internet gave a status update on broadband expansion in Cameron County, listing recent fiber installations at county facilities (including Santa Maria Park) and a wireless footprint of 11 towers serving customers from those sites. Sales manager Linda Garza reported the company's assessment that 138,265 locations in the county are serviceable and that VTX1 can reach about 97,984 of those, or roughly 71% of the county.
Garza described ongoing marketing and outreach (door-to-door engagement, flyers and promotional pricing starting at $29.99/month for certain fiber tiers) and said additional tower placement or other engineering work would be required to reach brown-dot areas on the company's map that remain unserviceable. Commissioners asked for timelines and follow-up, and the court moved to acknowledge the presentation.
