EMS director requests increased maintenance, capital funds as mileage and repairs rise

EMS leadership (S8) presented a multi‑line budget request driven by equipment aging, higher subscription costs for e‑dispatch and an increase in billable miles. The EMS director said the county drove 54,190 billable miles in 2024 and that 2025 call volume and driving distances have increased fuel and repair demands.
"In 2024, we drove 54,190 miles of billable miles," the EMS presenter said, and asked the commission to increase machine maintenance and equipment repair line items and to budget for replacement tablets and a Lucas CPR device. The director described subscription increases for e‑dispatch and other operational tech and proposed evaluating remounts for aging ambulances.
Commissioners asked for a prioritized list and options for grants or remount funding; EMS staff said they would pursue grant opportunities and present a refined request at the next meeting.
