The Cameron County Elections Commission confirmed March 24 that commissioners court has approved adding the Ad Astra Building near Starbase as an early‑voting location for the May 26 runoffs, raising the number of early‑voting sites from 19 to 20.
Remy told the commission the school building will be vacated at the end of March and is available for use during early voting; commissioners court set hours so polling places provide 12 hours of voting daily (8 a.m.–8 p.m.). "So instead of 19, we're going to have 20," Remy said, noting the addition is intended to expand opportunities during the one‑week early‑voting period. He clarified the addition was approved only for early voting; political parties decide election‑day sites.
Commission members praised poll workers and the elections staff for managing a high‑turnout primary with few unresolved issues. The commission moved to acknowledge the report and congratulated staff on their efforts.
