Court approves three‑year airport agreement to host police training

The Cameron County Commissioners Court approved a contract allowing Texas Southmost College to use the Port Isabel–Cameron County Airport to provide police training courses and exercises. Staff said the request is to extend the agreement from the usual one‑year term to three years.
A staff representative explained the usual practice: "Normally, a lisonbee agreements, we execute them for a year, and they're asking if they could do a a 3 year agreement instead of 1 year agreement," the speaker said. Commissioners confirmed the county retains control through a 30‑day out clause and voted to approve the contract. The motion was offered and seconded and the court recorded the motion as carried.
