The posted quote (dated Jan. 10) was discussed and the Superintendent described funding options: use $70,000 from the bus-replacement fund plus roughly $50,000 from contingency for a single mini bus, appropriate funds from general fund for two, or explore the $1,000,000 PGE incentive to support electric buses and charging infrastructure. "We have about 1,000,000 dollars sitting in a transportation fund that was really earmarked for the electric buses," the Superintendent said.
Directors asked staff to provide a budget scenario showing where money would be pulled from and the consequences of using existing reserves. Several trustees favored tabling a final decision until staff could confirm vehicle availability and present funding scenarios to avoid depleting reserves without a clear electrification plan.
