County approves $1.25M in stationary generators, adds mobile unit and emergency boiler replacement

Prather (speaker 10) asked the committee to approve purchase under state contract of a mobile generator for fleet services at $143,335 to allow fleet crews to service generators and provide temporary backup. The presenter said the county has been building regional resources since a hurricane prompted a county tasking to be prepared to help other jurisdictions.
A separate bid award to Coleman Construction for three full building backup generators — Fire Station 16, Building C, and the Exhibition Center — totaled $1,245,931. Prather said the units are full building stationary diesel generators sized to ensure building self‑supply. "All 3 of these are full, building backup generators," Prather said.
The committee also approved an emergency replacement of a failed boiler at Patriot's Park Gym for $73,958.68, funded from building upgrades; staff said the second boiler at the site was "limping along" and that the replacement was necessary to restore facility operations.
