District tech director outlines Chromebook filtering and optional parent monitoring tools

Matt Grama, the district technology director introduced by Superintendent Becky Meyer, described how the district filters student Chromebooks and an option for parents to sign up for a monitoring product.
Grama said the district’s filter (LineWise/ClassWise) routes school-managed Chromebook traffic through the district even off-campus so the same restrictions apply, and he described a parent-facing product (Qstudio/ClassWise) that allows a parent who signs up to monitor the school device plus two personal devices. "That same technology through Qstudio, every parent who signs up can get their school device plus 2 personal devices that they can monitor," he said. Grama emphasized the filter is not perfect and requires ongoing updates and diligence.
School staff and parents asked whether the tool simply monitors or also enforces locks on devices; Grama said teachers can lock district Chromebooks during class and that parental controls can lock devices outside school hours but acknowledged limits and concerns about cost and parental appetite for enforcement.
