City Manager Mister Nichols updated the council on multiple capital projects and community amenities. He said the municipal building's parking lot is scheduled to be installed the first week of August, interior block masons are installing walls and exterior brickwork is progressing, and the building should be "dried in" (roofing, windows, doors installed) by early September.
Nichols said Duke Energy crews are onsite installing electric service, gas installation is scheduled to begin in October, sidewalks and ADA ramps are imminent, and several off‑site paving and signage tasks are complete. On the splash pad — opened July 2 — Nichols reported "851,000 gallons of water has been used" since opening and that the city has submitted for a $50,000 ODNR grant reimbursement. He also noted the elevated water tower remains under construction (148 feet high with final pedestal pour and concrete dome to follow).
Nichols also briefed council on procurement timelines: local paving bids open next week and an OPWC (Ohio Public Works Commission) waterline replacement project will open for bids in early August and return to council for award recommendations after opening. No policy votes were taken during the update.
