The Yates County Legislature unanimously appointed Leslie Church as Chair during its organizational meeting on Jan. 5, 2026 in Penn Yan. "BE IT RESOLVED, that Leslie Church is hereby appointed as Chair of the Yates County Legislature for a term effective immediately and ending on December 31, 2027," the resolution reads.
Patrick Killen moved the resolution and Sarah Purdy seconded; the appointment followed a temporary-chair nomination earlier in the session.
